I had read Mary Griffith's book The Homeschooling Handbook : From Preschool to High School, a Parent's Guide, last year, and knew she was in the process of writing a book about unschooling. This book, The Unschooling Handbook, was definitely worth the wait. Newcomers to unschooling will find it very helpful and informative, while those already familiar with unschooling will be reassured to hear the stories of other families taking the same unschooling path.

Mary nicely provides an overview of what unschooling can be and resources that can be used. She also gives examples of actual weeks of unschooling families. Throughout there are quotes from the many unschooling families who contributed to the writing of The Unschooling Handbook.

The Unschooling Handbook is the perfect gift for family and friends who don't really seem to "get" the unschooling method. The many explanations and examples provided will surely answer most questions and settle most qualms.

I highly recommend Mary Griffith's newest book for your home library, and am looking forward to her next book.
