Karen's review of

People of the Wolf

by W. Micheal Gear & Kathleen O'Neal

People of the Wolf is the first in a series of books about Prehistoric North Americans.

Early Americans travelled from Asia across a land bridge during the ice ages. The People of the Wolf takes place at a time when the glaciers are growing and the hunting grounds are shrinking. The clans of people are fighting amongst each other for territory to survive.

Driven by a vision, a powerful dreamer leads his people to a new life through the glaciers.

I loved the thought that early man had such a connection with nature; that dreamers could commune with the spirts of the animals and feel "one" with the ultimate power. It holds the promise that we humans may one day find a way to reconnect with that lost part of ourselves.
