life happens
2008 has been a year of transitions, one of beginnings and endings, seeing old familiar faces and making new friends.
I had the opportunity to travel to my hometown of Salina, Kansas with my friend, Annette. While in Kansas I hitched a ride with a newly discovered third cousin to attend a Pfannenstiel family reunion in Hays. The day was perfect—puffy clouds in a clear blue sky that was visible for miles over the rippling Kansas wheat. I saw relatives I haven't visited with in over three decades and met many of the newer members of the family, which now spans two new generations!
The summer was productive; I got the opportunity to rest and rejuvenate, socialize with friends, enjoy some of Austin's famous live music scene, and tackle many chores and projects around the house.
I received my Master's degree in Communication Studies from the U of Texas in May. Now rested, I begin the Ph.D program this fall.
We'll see how long the restfulness lasts!
