Diana, Princess of Wales

Mother Theresa
in honor of their charitable works
A strong friendship is a candle of beauty A candle whose wick when lit sheds a soft glow True friendship is a candle of pure beeswax which
burns steadily as almost forever can go.
However, some people can see only darkness,
to these, light has been denied.
They have more anguish than the writihing souls of Styx,
for they have never been heard, but forever have cried.
There are others who are abject and forlorn
since always they have been misunderstood:
whatever their actions, they only get scorn
even though their intentions are good.

Truly, there are people like this.
Perhaps with them you can sympathize;
It takes only one of life's moments to realize
that this is not so new...
For at times, we are all misunderstood
by family, friend, and foe;
At times for our attempts all we get is scorn.
Is this a fair quid pro quo?
That is why people need friends like you
Friends with whom they can share
Friends who will know what to do
When all those people know is despair.

But the people who have been depicted here,
can prove themselves yet--
Because they too are beautiful candles
whose wicks just need to be lit.
Each one of us is a candle
who has the power to glow
For God has given each of us a precious gift--
Gifts that to the world we should show,
For with our light, other candles may also
light their wicks and share with us their
beautiful gifts.
Each one of us should develop the light
given to each of us
Light which will burn more brightly with
friendship, love and trust.

Shed your light and you shall gain more
for your light shall always be reflected
in the mirror of other souls
Always remember that shedding and reflecting
are the two ways to spread light.
