Since you're compiling maintenance information, I thought I'd let you know of my experience.
I have personally worked on two NH550's that have had crank problems. Both lost the bearings on the number 3 crankpin and ruined the crankshaft. One had around 28,000 km (17400 miles) but I don't remember the other (less than 35,000 [21750 miles] I would think). (Assuming their owners didn't tamper with the odometer's that is). But I personally know one of the bikes was ridden extremely hard, and I have news that the other had an owner with a similar reputation.
Of course, this made ME nervous with mine so I rebuilt the engine at 40,000 km [28850 miles] . The main bearings were all fine and the crankpin bearings were only slightly scuffed and WELL within acceptable tolerances. I rode it a further 40,000 km before I finally sold it (a sad, sad day). There was some valve and cam chain noise (the cam chain started intermittently making noise around 25,000 km) but it ran fine and the valvetrain checkout okay when I rebuilt the engine.
My only comlaint was a recurrent oil leak at the oil pressure switch (a slow drip). After a long ride there would be oil streaks all along the right side muffler. I ended up replacing the switch three times.
