I was gently reminded that the WWW stands for
"World Wide" Web. I unfairly overlooked the largest Nighthawk S built
in the 80's, the CB750SC. In deference to non USA Nighthawk owner's,
I am adding this page. The 84-86 750 Nighthawk S was sold in Canada,
and perhaps other locations, but was kept out of the U.S. due to a
high tariff imposed by the U.S. government on all foreign
manufactured motorcycles exceeding 700cc's. Honda made a wise
marketing move (they're good at that) to drop the engine size to
700cc (essentially a 750 engine with a slightly shorter stroke),
rather than attempt to sell a standard UJM bike with an artificially
high price. It turned out to be a wise move, and the 700S sold well.
I'm not sure how the 750S sold in Canada, but chances are a fine
machine like the Nighthawk did OK. After all, it's essentially a 700S
with a 7% increase in engine size. I don't have a lot of information
on this model, but Michele in B.C., Canada sent me some basic
stuff:
