Hello Short Breakers!
Yeah, I went AWOL last week, so there was no Short Break. I figured it was a good time to take a break, for myself.
It sure is great to have Richard back and ornery as ever. I was afraid his illness was gonna make him a woose, but I should have saved my concern for someone else. He's back, he's ready to work, and he's no less bullheaded than he was before. If you are new to these newsletters, be sure to write to Richard at HaveABreak@aol.com and get him to put you on his list too. He is planning a newsletter once a month, for now.. and that will be the time I'll duck out. I'll be taking another break real soon.
Next week I am tagging along with my son's football team to a camp in the mountains, far from anything remotely civilized. They need me 'cause I am an experienced woodswoman. I know wild animals. I can build a dry camp, even in the rain. I get lost, but I don't get scared. This is a good thing. They also need me to help teach some of the more strategic moves in the game of football. Apparently they found those old films of my days as the starting fullback. I don't mind, altho I am a little rusty...will have to remember to take along the Motrin and Ben Gay. Wish me luck!
Now, they *say* they want me to come along to camp just to cook for the
team, but I think I know better. They can't fool me. I'll play along, tho, and hey! I'll bring an apron just to humor them!
hehehehe!
I am undertaking a new joy/challenge in my quiet little life. I have been
asked to be the layout editor for a real newsletter (oops.. not to suggest that this isn't real.) So now I get to play this game a little differently. It's a local publication that comes out 8 times a year. I am real excited
by the prospect. We (the new management team) received some "air time" on a
local radio station. A friend and co-grouper of ours has a radio program,
and he generously made promises we now have to try to keep.
