*Check out the animations for mitosis and meiosis. There are tutorials for just about
every bio topic. (Look for respiration under metabolism.) There are also quizzes. I found
an exercise on mitosis that's just like the AP mitosis lab where you have to count the
number of cells at varying stages of mitosis. I suspect there are other similarly related
exercises.
When answering the Free Response questions on the AP Biology Exam:
- Write neatly enough to be read. If a reader cannot read what you write, you cannot get
credit.
- Clearly identify the parts of the question.
- Pay attention to spelling. Readers will not take off for spelling, but it is likely to
effect their impression of your ability and might subsequently effect their assessment of
your response.
- For the laboratory question, you should be sure to:
- State a hypothesis.
- Describe the control.
- Specify repeats in procedure. Be sure to specify intermediate setups, as well as the
extremes. For example, instead of generally saying that setups should be provided for
temperatures from 20 to 80 degrees, indicate 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 degrees.
Quantitative data is better than qualitative data. However, if the data is not
quantitative, try to describe a minimum of 3 setups.
- Draw a graph for expected data.
- State a conclusion.
