Schedule

Here's the schedule for the wedding. Ambiguous and obscure things will resolve, I hope, as the date draws nearer. So check back every once in a while--and remember, as with all things on the Internet, don't trust what you read! Wait til you have it in writing, on paper. This is a first draft.

Friday, August 17

4 pm
Mountain Meadows has a regular afternoon cheese and crackers tray. Walk around and see the property. If you have a few hours to kill, and don't want to just hang out and watch us rehearse (c'mon, you don't want to give away the ending, do you?), visit the charming nearby town of Woodstock, or the Simon Pearce glass blowing shop with its waterwheel, or some other nice places we'll link this page to (yeah, right. You're better off looking for them on Google).

Afternoon.
We'll be rehearsing. If you are assigned a cue card, please hold it up straight and fight the "wind wobble."

6:30 pm
Dinner is served! There will be a grill with steaks, chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs, as well as salads.

8:30 pm. Nightfall.
Bonfire! There will be a campfire set up, and S'mores! Phil Knapp and Gina Purtell are both particularly good at making these sugary sandwiches, and Mountain Meadows staff will also be around to help.
We're planning on having a sing along around the fire. Check out the Hootenanny page on the web where I've posted a few modern "standards." Learn the words (or print them out), play them on your guitar, harmonica, accordion, cello, bongos, flute, viola or whatever and then you'll be ready to join our hootenanny. We'll bring a couple or three guitars and assorted random instruments with us, too.
I'm thinking of posting 15-20 songs; if you have a suggestion, send it on. And come ready to teach us all your favorite song. (Or just play it and we'll try to play along.)

Sleep tight--there's a long day ahead of you (and for us).

Saturday, August 18

7-8 am.
A pre-breakfast hike up the Appalachian Trail to a waterfall. Sign up the day before so we won't leave without you!

8-9:30 am.
Breakfast. Come from wherever you're staying and have breakfast with us (if your breakfast is already included in your room rate--steal a muffin for lunch!).

9:30-4 pm.
The day is yours. Play tennis or volleyball, go swimming or canoeing, hike up a trail, climb a rock, or just take a nap. You're on your own for lunch; Mountain Meadows can provide box lunches for you to enjoy at the lodge or on your adventures.

4 pm.
The big event. Be a witness to our wedding ceremony. Right after the ceremony, we'll take a picture of all the guests, so don't wander away.

5 pm.
While we're posing for pictures, enjoy a drink, pat a sheep, have some hors d'oeuvres.

6 pm.
Have a seat under the tent--but don't stay seated! We'll have dinner and dancing for the rest of the night.

Sunday, August 19

8-11:30 am.
Have breakfast with us before you go.

Any suggestions for good books on weddings, marriages, etc? No John Updike, thanks.

69 Love Songs
69 Love Songs has a great song called The Book of Love, that I'd love to have at the ceremony. I don't know what Julie thinks.
