Sights & Sounds of New Orleans

Music from Nawlins

Music is a vital component of your Nawlins experience.  If you have a Real Player installed on your PC, you can listen to tunes broadcast directly from Nawlins - To purchase authentic music tapes & CD's from New Orleans in advance of your visit, I recommend the Louisiana Music Factory.

There are many clubs and music halls in New Orleans.  Check WWOZ for their concert calendar, or check out Off Beat's Club Listings.

Good Eatin'

You have to eat a crawfish (a.k.a. cajun caviar, mudbug).  It most resembles shrimp - but crawfish have no cholesterol!  For a better understanding of this delicacy, see this page.  You will spend much time in the Acme Oyster Bar on Iberville Street munchin' mudbugs!

Ice Cold Abita Amber - Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm You will become very familiar with this beverage.  Abita Amber is the preferred brew of this occasion.  Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop, 941 Bourbon Street (at St Phillip Street) anytime after 12 noon.  See you there!

Restaurants are the real reason we're coming.  See the To Do page for our favorite places to dine!

Culture of Louisiana

Nawlins, Cajun, Creole - three different things.  Here's a quick what's-up for the Louisiana-challenged - the Gumbo Pages Culture page.

Voo-Doo, scary!

Voodoo is real in New Orleans.  It is a Creole tradition.  For information about voodoo check out this link.  Once you're in New Orleans, there are several voodoo shops in the French Quarter.  There is also a Voodoo Museum you can visit.

This would be a great time to stock-up on your spells powders, alligator heads and voodoo dolls.  They say they have the power.
