MATCHES S. R. VAN DUZER 1866 One of the many fine products distributed by S.R. Van Duzer's wholesale drug firm. The First Issue 1¢ Proprietary bears Van Duzer's "S.R.V.D. Dec 1866" marking and is also interesting as evidence of automation. It was affixed to the product by a stamp-affixing machine. Note the straightedges, sliced out-of-synch with the perforations by the machine's cutting blade.
