Tintype Envelopes
Large studios used these in order to save time, preparing them with precancelled stamps in advance of use. In addition, the flap covering the tintype allowed stacking them in piles without fear of ink smudges.

The one on the left bears the studio's identifying logo, but the
other has received three handstamps in addition to the one
on the stamp, seemingly to make up for the lack of a formal imprint.

These envelopes are not often encountered because most people placed
their tintypes in albums, discarding the envelope.
