Accidently released in mid-June 1866 in relatively small quantities,
this experimental stamp is likely to be proven extremely rare in
actual use on photograph because only six weeks later the tax ended.

This carte de visite is the only item to surface that documents its usage on photographs.

The July 3, 1866 datestamp matches the studio name printed on the
photograph, Z.P. McMillen of Galesburg, Illinois.
