Here's a Deltic I spotted with the help of Rich Kidd last time I was in England. The other side has a quote from Rich on it, but I forget what it is because he got that photo and we were drunk at the time anyway.

As far as trainspotting tips, remember that engines are bigger than you; that more expensive beer doesn't necessarily mean better-tolerated beer; that it takes several cans of spray paint to effectively spot a Deltic or other engine; that spotting moving trains is a really, really bad idea (and health care for foreigners on non-work visas can be difficult to get in England); and finally, variants of your surname should not be used in your tags; actually, that brings me to one more tip: If you get the paint on your clothes, don't leave them to dry in the front hall, and don't leave the bag of empty paint cans immediately to the side of the door to the flat where you're crashing for the night (unless you enjoy being half-drunk/half-hung-over and being interrogated by the police in the wee hours although they were rather polite about the whole thing and even drove me back to the apartment afterward).
