2006
Where did 2005 go? I've been so busy and time has sped by so quickly
that in some ways I'm psychically still in September. The biggest
news of 2005 was the 6.5 weeks I spent at the University of Middlesex
in London during the summer. (That's me on the right at the Roman
Baths in... where else? Bath!) The UK is a wonderful country, great
people! Yes, I was there during the terrorist bombing of the Piccadilly
line (the tube that serviced our uni), the second bombing, Live8,
the celebration of London's award of the 2012 Olympics, and G8.
The Middlesex campus was incredible, but the dorms... let's just
say I was glad I brought earplugs!
I'm
still working on a Communication degree at St.Edward's
University and completing my last semester. My 4.0 GPA remains
intact, and graduation is scheduled for May 6 (please come!). I
was awarded the Luci Baines Johnson endowed scholarship and have
been nominated for St. Ed's Presidential Award. It feels good to
receive these honors and bolsters my enthusiasm and encourages me
to go further.
I didn't
get much of a holiday break, as I was busy studying for the GRE.
I took the exam in early January and have applied to UT's College
of Communication for Rhetoric and Language Studies. I really hope
I am accepted into their graduate program. I've visited the school,
met with several current students and faculty, and I know this is
where I want to further my studies.
